DR. JOHN BRIDGES

Dr. John H. Bridges III served in the Marine Corps from January 1975 to January 1995. He enlisted in 1975 and completed recruit training at Parris Island. He served in staff management and leadership positions responsible for Environmental, Health, Safety, and Hazardous Materials Management within the aviation community at six major Marine Corps installations. He also served as a Federal On-Scene Coordinator for approximately twelve of his twenty years of honorable service.

Dr. Bridges' career as a Marine began at Parris Island, with assignments at MCB Camp Lejeune, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, El Toro, Tustin, Yuma, USS Midway, Camp H. M. Smith, and Marine Corps Base Quantico.

​

Bridges' tenure as a Marine and an experienced program leader, administrator, and executive has been marked by investments in education.  In addition to completing the former Amphibious Warfare School (AWS) and Marine Corps Command and Staff College (non-resident) programs, he attended the Senior Executive Fellow Program at Harvard University, JFK School of Government, Corporate Environmental Leadership Program, Yale University, School of Forestry, and ANSER Institute for Homeland Security culminating in a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from The National Graduate School of Quality Management.

Dr. Bridges is also a Certified Lean & Six Sigma Black Belt (CLSSBB), which complements his personal portfolio as a performance improvement practitioner.

​

After retiring from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1995, he joined the federal government. He fulfilled thirteen of his sixteen years as a senior executive serving as Assistant Administrator within the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Executive Director, National Preparedness and Homeland Security, U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) and Director, Incident Management with the U.S. Postal Service before moving into the private sector culminating as a college President in Massachusetts.

Dr. Bridges is a member of the American Legion, Marine Corps Association, Marine Corps League, United States Naval Institute, Life Member of the Marine Executive Association, and Life Member of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Homeland Security Division and serves as its Education Chair.
