Microsoft is hiring Software Engineers, Systems Engineers and PMs with TS clearances for the following locations. MD, WA and VA. I didn’t know if you knew of anyone that may be interested but in case you do, can you please refer them to me for consideration and possible interview.

SRE / Site Reliability Engineer

L60-L64, Level is commensurate with experience.

(Dev Ops/Systems Engineer, may not come with much coding)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deliver the required software engineering to serve and protect O365 government clouds
  • Own deployment, availability, reliability, performance and customer escalation targets for sovereign environments
  • Proactively identify and reduce issues through design, testing, and implementation of software-based solutions
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Program Management partners to translate customer, business, and technical requirements into architectural designs and feature releases
  • Drive efficiencies through software improvement and root cause analysis resulting in service delivery, maturity, and scalability
  • Work within a highly skilled team of engineers to deliver revolutionary improvements to the cloud and scale them

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of engineering or systems experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline, or in place of 4-year degree, an equivalent industry internship or industry software engineering experience
  • Familiarity with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C++, C#, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell
  • Experience with the Microsoft cloud and/or stack including O365, Azure, Windows or other Microsoft software/services
  • Experience leveraging cloud architecture, applying site reliability principles, and/or demonstrating sensitivity to operational concerns
  • Demonstrated ability to debug, fix, and optimize code
  • Full-stack troubleshooting skills across network, application, hardware, management fabric, and distributed services layers
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written

 

Service Engineer/Site Reliability Engineer:

Systems engineer that has some development inclinations or capabilities to migrate to that capacity. Supporting and maintaining software or fixing or identifying at runtime. Identify where things are failing. With operations knowledge about what it means to keep sites up. Not just responding to incident but monitoring health over time. Not delivering enterprise code but develop something scrappy to fix and build on. Identify where software is failing. Fixing automation failures. Incident response to build and maintain.

 

 

Service Engineer’s might have experience in:

Scripting

Systems level engineering

Maintenance level

Could be Network Admin types

 

 

Service Engineers are responsible for:

  • Systems Engineering (may also have some coding experience)
  • Scripting (PowerShell or other scripting tools)
  • Full-stack troubleshooting skills across network, application, hardware, management fabric, and distributed services layers

Software Engineer (SWE)

Basic Profiles:  All require Top Secret Security Clearance of higher.

SWE / Software Engineer:

L 60-L64

(Will be able to code, develop, etc.)

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design and automate service scale features and customer requirements
  • Design and implement improvements to our security posture and compliance automation
  • Be part of a Dev-Ops team that handles and remediates customer issues
  • Collaborate with partner teams to meet the engineering goals in a unified manner
  • Contribute to significantly improving the security rigor of our system to be best-in-world
  • Experience with algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis and software design.

 

Core Qualifications:

 

  • 1+ year of engineering experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or equivalent experience
  • PowerShell or other scripting technologies (Python, GO..)
  • Experience with building cloud-scale infrastructure components.
  • Awareness & passion related to cloud scale monitoring and big-data analysis.
  • Familiar with secure software design concepts
  • Familiar with security related configurations such as encryption or authentication mechanisms
  • Proven track record of delivering projects that include multiple components
  • Ability and eagerness to work across and partner with multiple engineering teams to achieve business goals

 

The people we want are ‘modern SE’s’.  They write code, they script and automate; they understand a developer’s world quite well but have a passion around infrastructure, scale and service delivery. Someone that can write enterprise level software but also debug and improve or troubleshoot as needed.
