ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

The Department of Educational Leadership and Foundations at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) announces a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate level in Educational Leadership with a focus on K-12 principal preparation beginning fall 2021. Recently, all Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) across the State underwent extensive program development with the introduction of the new set of standards for principals (TAC 241) and a new TExES Principal Certification exam (268). The faculty member will be expected to support program development to improve principal preparation consistent with the new State requirements. .

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a candidate who will be committed to excellence in teaching, research, service, and community engagement, as well as collaboration across the university. Teaching assignments will be based on the candidate’s experience and expertise. The successful candidate will assume a range of responsibilities, including the following: (1) developing a sustained program of research and scholarship; (2) teaching graduate level courses; (3) participating in efforts to seek extramural funding; (4) participating in broad-based university, college, and departmental committees, as well as professional and community service; (5) advising, mentoring, and supervising students; and (6) program development to improve principal and superintendent preparation consistent with state requirements.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An earned doctorate in educational leadership, or a closely related field prior to the date of appointment
  • Successful experience in K-12 school leadership or administrative experience in school or central office settings (e.g., principal, school district director, assistant or associate superintendent)
  • Experience developing collaborative relationships with school districts, government agencies, research institutes, and policy centers or networks
  • Evidence of a sustained program of scholarship and research
  • Record of extramural funding and/or potential to obtain grants

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An earned doctorate in educational leadership, or a closely related field
  • Successful experience in K-12 school leadership or administrative experience in school or central office settings (e.g., principal, school district director, assistant or associate superintendent)
  • Experience developing collaborative relationships with school districts, government agencies, research institutes, and policy centers or networks
  • Evidence of a sustained program of scholarship and research, and demonstrated evidence of a publication record
  • Record of extramural funding and/or potential to obtain grants
  • Evidence of effective teaching, advising, mentoring, and supervising of graduate and doctoral students
  • Experience monitoring, revising, and improving graduate programs (Master’s and Doctoral)
  • Evidence of ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and professionals
