General Description: Provides Irregular Warfare (IW) experience/subject matter expertise, technical support and solution development to the IW program to the Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration (DC CD&I), Capabilities Development Directorate (CDD), Marine Corp’s Ground Combat Element Division – Force Protection, Active Security Branch in support of force-wide development and implementation of advance tactics, techniques, procedures, and technologies for the Irregular Warfare mission area.
Specific Duties: Provides programmatic and technical support to the Active Security Branch for the development of IW capabilities, analysis, and documentation, and support the annual Program Objective Memorandum process, as required.
Providing experienced personnel (subject matter experts) and information pertaining to the history, evolution, and current operational trends of IW, as it applies to each component command
Research, analyze, and interpret policies related to non-standard missions and forecast implications for expeditionary forces. Provide recommendations, based on qualitative or quantitative analysis to modify training and/or education standards to enhance force readiness.
Analyze IW related Universal Joint Tasks (UJTs) with relevant USMC IW MCTs, and develop proposals for modification, update for existing or new IW related MCTs.
Analyze existing Marine T&R standards and develop recommendations for modification, or new T&R events.
Conduct concept development, analysis, and problem solving for tactical, operational, and strategic level issues related to training, education, irregular warfare, confronting irregular challenges, and expeditionary warfare.
Analyze IW related terms in the Marine Corps Reference Publication (MCRP) 1-10.2, Marine Corps Supplement to the DOD Dictionary of Military and Associated Terms, and make recommendations for modification or new terms, to be consistent with Joint, NATO, and Interagency terms.
Analyze information in Marine Corp Training Information Management System (MCTIMS) related to unit readiness reporting for IW related MCTs.
Respond to request for information (RFI), support taskers, and tracks document routing and related actions.
Supports the Branch Head and CIOs with document preparation, e.g., capability/IW briefs, information papers, white papers, and stakeholder briefs.
Deliver monthly progress/status reports and program update briefs.

Prior military experience with relevant experience in Navy Expeditionary/MAGTF/Special Operations to include recent deployment in support of Irregular Warfare mission areas;
Subject matter expertise in two or more of the following:
Military Staff Officer/Staff Planner
Organizational Training and Readiness
Joint Staff Action Process
Marine Corps/Navy Expeditionary unit Leadership
Ability to interface with all levels of Command;
Possess strong communication and inter-personal skills;
Possess the ability to clearly, and properly, speak and write English;
Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet/web-based applications;
Possess the ability to multitask and work both as a team and independently, while meeting strict deadlines;
Present a professional appearance.
Experience with, and operational understanding of, the capabilities of Navy/Marine Corps Expeditionary community, its warfighting functions, training and assessment processes and instruction;
Background in Marine Corps Operations, to include MAGTF operations and staff integration is a plus.
Familiarity with Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution System and Marine Corps CBA/POM cycle;
Familiarity with Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System;
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Former Action Officer at MCCDC or HQMC with knowledge of Marine Corps operations and staffing processes is a plus.
