MID-Level: Bachelor's, any discipline.

ALEX - Alternative Experts is hiring an Allies and Partners Subject Matter Expert (SME). The individual shall engage within DoD and NATO organizations to conduct studies, analysis and assessments to facilitate inclusion of IFCs in DoD building partner capacity initiatives. This includes studies, analysis, assessments and engagement with the Joint Staff J7 Allies and Partners Division, and the Defense Security Cooperation; agency and other DoD or non-DoD organizations as directed.

The successful candidate will support the Joint Intermediate Force Capabilities Office in conducting studies, analysis and assessments to further enable mainstreaming of intermediate force capabilities across DOD and in strengthening alliances and partnerships in accordance with DOD higher level guidance.

A key portion of the position will be the ability to build a professional network of contacts among DOD staff, components and services, as well as other U.S. government agencies and allied and partner nations.

Significant CONUS and OCONUS travel will be involved.

Specific skills and duties include:

The candidate shall have 5 years' experience in professional analysis AND 5 years' experience in 3 of the following 4 areas:

- Non-Lethal Technology and policy; or non-lethal research and development or other non-lethal related areas.

- Studies and analysis for the Joint Staff and/or Combatant Commands related to non-lethal weapons or intermediate force capabilities.

- Analyzing national security higher level guidance and conducting related studies.
Studying and analyzing world-wide non-lethal weapons/intermediate force capabilities activity.

- Experience writing information papers, point papers, program objectives and milestones and similar reports and documents.

- Developing relationships and networks among a diverse group of organizations with related interests.


Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

- An extensive, already-established professional network within the DOD.

- Experience reviewing and commenting on NATO publications.

- Experience conducting studies or contributing to policy on Irregular Warfare.

- Knowledge of the Indo-Pacific region and operational and strategic challenges associated with that region.

- Familiarity and ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite.
