The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Manages Indirect Tax technology projects involving multiple business unit partners
• Implements and maintains Indirect Tax automation and reporting tools (Vertex & Sabrix) within our ERP systems (SAP/Cost Point).
• Optimizes tax systems to utilize recent software enhancements and capabilities
• Configures/customizes tax systems to supplement out-of-the-box functionality
• Assesses and improves process and data flow related to Indirect Tax automation initiatives
• Monitors and stays up to date on emerging tax technology trends and continually reevaluates and revises the tax technology strategy for Indirect Tax
• Sets appropriate goals and deadlines, managing resource requirements, establishing written project plans, regularly monitoring and communicating projects’ status and seeing projects through to completion
• Recommends solutions, outlines suggested courses of actions and implements solutions to correct errors going forward
• Develops and analyzes reporting metrics to readily determine sales/use tax implications of company operations
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience
• 9+ years of relevant Indirect Tax experience with a proactive approach to collaboration and problem solving
• Deliverable-focused, strong work ethic, and the capability to handle multiple projects and stakeholders
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to independently identify and resolve issues
• Understands cross functional impact and ability to build consensus with business partners
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• Ability to independently and proactively resolve problems within established parameters. Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with both internal and external clients
• Significant experience working with SAP and Vertex/Sabrix (or other third-party indirect tax automation software)
• Experience developing and implementing processes, procedures, systems and or standards.
• Excels with the use of emerging technology and advanced data warehousing
• Travel may be required
• Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
• Vertex Certification a plus
• Master’s degree and 7+ years of experience
• CPA a plus
