Title: SOF Fires & Effects Planner
Location: Hurlburt Field, FL
BACKGROUND : Components of USSOCOM have the responsibility to execute large-scale training exercises designed to enhance readiness and prepare SOF units for deployment. The SOF Fires and Effect Planner is part of a 13-person EMERALD WARRIOR Exercise planning team charged with planning and executing the AFSOC Joint National Training Capability certified event. Other team members include specialists in communications, model and simulations, intelligence, operations, logistics, MSEL manager, ranges, etc.
|· Advice AFSOC Emerald Warrior program of effects capabilities and requirements during concept design, planning, execution and after action analysis of the exercise.|
|· Participate in and provide support during all Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) events to include Concept Design Conference (CDC), Initial Planning Conference (IPC), Middle Planning Conference (MPC) and the Final Planning Conference (FPC).|
|· Author and implement the Emerald Warrior ECG Effects Coordination Cell (ECC) Standard Operation Procedure (SOP).|
|· Research and implement applications for test and evaluation of cutting edge technologies and products to integrate in the exercise for prototyping and experimentation.|
|· Advise and assist participating units during JELC events on kinetic and non-kinetic effects process to include building tailored briefs and products, recommending best practices, templates, tools, processes and procedures applicable to the scope of operations to include, but not limited to; SOF JTAAC full mission profile, close air support, assault zone, urban warfare, small unit tactics, airspace deconfliction, stack management, ISR integration, combined arms, naval fire support, electronic warfare, space warfare, cyber warfare, information operations, fire support in the defense and enemy defense capabilities.|
|· Utilize knowledge of all elements of the fire support system, including target acquisition, command and control (C2), and attack and delivery systems that must function collectively to ensure effective fires at the tactical and operations levels of the project.|
|· Assist the Operations Working Group by building the following products:|
|o Appendix 19, Commander’s Guidance for Fires and Effects and Essential Fire Support Tasks|
|o EC Synchronization Matrix|
|o Fires and Effects Support Execution Matrix (FSEM)|
|o Joint Targeting Working Group Slides|
|· Develop operations time-lines for joint fires and effects integration using the FSEM.|
|· Develop synchronization matrices for both live-virtual-construction (LVC) and distributed missions’ operations (DMO) joint fires and effects training.|
|· Advise and assist in the development of training and exercise objectives associated with joint fires integration.|
|· Be an expert in doctrinal application of JP 3-09 series publication and all applicable fires and effects doctrine.|
|· Be an expert in SOF JTAC applications of training required by the SOCOM M350-5 series and applicable advanced skills training with regards to integrating fires and effects.|
|· Consolidate, organize and publish all elements of exercise after action reports that address the joint fires and effects war fighting function, which includes all lethal, non-lethal, kinetic & non-kinetic combined arms capabilities.|
|· Serve as the ECG Ops Joint Fires & Effects Lead role player (i.e. JS, USSOCOM, TSOC) during exercise execution.|
|· Bachelor’s degree with related military experience or 15 years of military experience|
|· More than 6 years’ operational and tactical Special Operations Forces’ (SOF) experience with relevant operational experience within the past two years preferred.|
|· More than 5 years’ experience in the design of exercises, scenarios and the participation in exercise working groups and planning conferences.|
|· Previously designated as a JTAC-Instructor/Evaluator preferably within the last 4 years.|
|· Joint Fires background with SOF experience required. (JTAC/TACP/FSO/FSNCO/FECC/NKO/etc)|
|· Experience in real world battle staff process and procedures.|
· Top Secret/SCI
