PROJECT ASSOCIATE, VETERANSAGAINSTALZHEIMER’S (VA2)
VA2 is seeking a highly motivated individual with expertise and experience in communications, advocacy, and public policy to serve as a project associate for this newly formed network of UsAgainstAlzheimer’s.
The Project Associate will support the President and Founder of the Veterans Network by:
· Working with Veterans Service Organizations on a major partnership program with VA2
· Helping to organize meetings, including agenda development and outreach to meeting participants
· Researching potential partners and helping to engage them in the work of Network
· Staying abreast of research and other articles on the topic of Veterans and Alzheimer’s
· Serving as a liaison/support to UsA2’s policy and communications teams, ensuring integration of the VA2 priorities into the UsA2 policy and communications agenda and supporting these synergies.
· Playing an integration role with the UsA2 network team.
· Performing administrative/support roles for the President/Founder of VA2 and occasionally for other members of the UsA2 senior team.
· Other projects as determined by the VA2 and UsA2 leadership.
UsAgainstAlzheimer’s includes both a 501(c)3 and a 501(c)4 organization (as well as a Political Action Committee). We operate largely as a virtual enterprise of seasoned, talented individuals and firms —with communications, issue campaign, social media, policy, political relations, marketing and fundraising skills—who provide the core functions needed to support our specialized advocacy networks and coalitions. Through our UsAgainstAlzheimer’s Networks, we engage communities of activists—African Americans, Latinos, clergy, women, researchers, Veterans and other activists—to strengthen and amplify the voices of Americans who are “engaged and enraged” about the slow pace of progress against this disease. The Global CEO Initiative on Alzheimer’s (CEOi), including companies from Japan’s Takeda to France’s Sanofi and home care company Home Instead, is the leading business voice on Alzheimer’s. Leaders Engaged on Alzheimer’s Disease (LEAD) is a diverse and growing national coalition of more than 90 member organizations co-convened by UsAgainstAlzheimer’s and the Volunteers of America and now the unifying advocacy voice for the Alzheimer’s-serving community. The Global Alzheimer’s Platform (GAP) Foundation joins together leading academic researchers, pharmaceutical companies, nonprofit organizations and foundations, and governments around the world to reduce the time, cost and risk of Alzheimer’s clinical trials in order to speed innovative medicines to those with or at risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
VeteransAgainstAlzheimer’s is a national network of veterans and their families, military leaders, veterans service organizations, researchers, and clinicians focused on raising awareness of the impact of Alzheimer’s as an urgent health issue for veterans. For more information go to:
