Description

Position Description: SimVentions, consistently voted one of Virginia’s Best Places to Work, is looking for a Network Security Engineer to join our team to perform network engineering and support for various shipboard Navy systems.

Responsibilities:
•Independently troubleshoot LAN issues with desktops, servers, Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls
•Use Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools to read syslog messages from network devices and take appropriate action
•Network analysis and management experience using SNMP, NTP, DNS, DHCP, SSH, etc.
•Perform system backups and recovery
•Maintain data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity
•Assist with securing and hardening infrastructure technologies to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance requirements and Information Assurance Vulnerability (IAV) Management (IAVM)
•Create and maintain system procedural and technical documentation
•Ability to work independently, as well as, collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment
•Work closely with the development team to support requirements and the release schedule
•Perform cybersecurity testing as required, to include vulnerability scanning (ACAS), implementation of Security Requirements Guides (SRG) and/or Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG), and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) benchmarks

Required Skills and Experience:
•Minimum of five (5) years of Network Engineering executing activities such as the design, implementation, installation, configuration, maintenance, and integration, and analysis of local or enterprise wired computer networks, to include the selection and configuration of networking devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls
•Three (3) years of full-time professional experience in Network Security to include the design, implementation, configuration, and enforcement of security controls on network, hardware, and software components and devices
•Ability to conform to DoD Cybersecurity standards
•Experience with any of the following is highly desirable: Cisco switches and routers, ASA Firewalls, ACLs, IDS/IPS, ISE, WSA, ESA and other security appliances
•Experience with network routing protocols such as OSPF, HSRP, VRRP, route redistribution. and TCP/IP Addressing and Subnetting
•Experience with Cisco Call manager is highly desirable
•Experience with virtual machine creation and maintenance using VMWare ESX and Virtual Center
•Familiarity with configuring/troubleshooting servers, Cisco Routers/Switches and Alcatel Switches, Access Control Lists, TCP/IP, and security protocols
•Understanding of and familiarity with the implementation of cybersecurity boundary defense techniques and various IA-enabled appliances (e.g. firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), switches/routers, Cross Domain Solutions (CDS), HBSS)
•Experience with DoD cybersecurity tools (e.g. ACAS, SCAP, STIGs, VRAM)
•Ability to develop technical presentations for diverse audiences (e.g. developers, system engineers, programmatic stakeholders, and Navy officials and personnel)
•Strong ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in written and oral presentations

Preferred Skills and Experience:
•Experience with Alcatel Switches 9700/7700/6800
•Working knowledge of VMware ESXi, vCenter, VM Creation. Minimum of DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Certification, including Computing/Operating Systems certification
•Experience in Windows 2008R2/2012/2012R2/2016 domain administration
•Experience with Active Directory Services (ADS), Group Policy, Logon Scripts, DHCP, DNS, WSUS, Printer Management
•Experience with administering/maintaining Microsoft Exchange 2010/2013 On-Premise environment

Education Required:
•Minimum DoD 8570.01-M IAM Level II / IAT Level I certification
•BS in Computer Science / Information Systems related field (preferred)
