RPI Group, Inc. is seeking a NASA IV&V Cyber Operator Engineer to join a team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Fairmont, WV. We support NASA’s Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Program, primarily delivering analysis, validation and verification of safety-critical and mission-critical software for important NASA programs. This position supports the IV&V Safety & Mission Assurance (SMA) Support Office (SSO) within the IV&V Program. Work is performed under the direction of the SAS Cybersecurity lead.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Cyber Lab administration
  • Open source and specific target data collection and processing
  • Identification of systems to exploit as well as locating and/or tracking targets of interest
  • Perform network navigation and tactical forensic analysis and execution of on-network operations as directed.
  • Virtualization experience (VMware, Hyper-V, Virtual Box, etc.)
  • Demonstrated skills in the application of the NIST CyberSecurity Framework and related security controls and frameworks (i.e., NIST, CIS)
  • Analyze and assess system architecture for security weaknesses.
  • Conduct open source data collection and survey computer and digital networks.
  • Scripting Language experience (e.g., Perl, VBScript, python, powershell) on Windows and UNIX systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree in a directly related field and 4+ years of experience. Four (4) years of relevant experience or domain specific certifications may be substituted for each degree requirement
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance
  • Ability to travel up 15%.
  • Virtualization experience (VMware, Hyper-V, Virtual Box, etc.)
  • Demonstrated skills in the application of the NIST CyberSecurity Framework and related security controls and frameworks (i.e., NIST, CIS)
  • Ability to analyze and assess system architecture for security weaknesses, conduct open source data collection and survey computer and digital networks.
  • Experience in Scripting Language (e.g., Perl, VBScript, python, powershell) on Windows and UNIX systems.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Develop new techniques for gaining and keeping access to target systems.
  • Demonstrated skills in assessing current tools to identify needed improvements, determining installed patches on various operating systems and identifying patch signatures, executing and interpreting vulnerability scanner results to identify vulnerabilities., knowledge management, including technical documentation techniques (e.g., Wiki page), server administration, testing and evaluating tools for implementation.
  • Experience in technical writing and review, using tools, techniques, and procedures to remotely exploit and establish persistence on a target, verifying the integrity of all files. (e.g., checksums, Exclusive OR, secure hashes, check constraints, etc.).
  • Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk), cybersecurity and privacy principles, cyber threats and vulnerabilities, system administration concepts for operating systems such as but not limited to Unix/Linux, IOS, Android, and Windows operating systems, auditing and logging procedures (including server-based logging), basic software applications (e.g., data storage and backup, database applications) and the types of vulnerabilities that have been found in those applications, current software and methodologies for active defense and system hardening, encryption algorithms and cyber capabilities/tools (e.g., SSL, PGP), security implications of software configurations, network security methodologies and the common networking and routing protocols (e.g. TCP/IP), services (e.g., web, mail, DNS), and how they interact to provide network communications, Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems structures and internals (e.g., process management, directory structure, installed applications).
  • Ability to interpret and translate customer requirements into operational action.
